I got out for a plein air session with my dad in Mooresville, NC. While driving home, we passed this dilapidated barn that was capturing the golden hour light. We pulled off and captured some great pictures, which inspired this studio painting. I walked around until I found this composition. I liked how the barn was thrown into darkness since the sky was so bright. The grays and reds from the rust gave the barn a blue and purple color, which complemented the oranges and yellows in the grasses in the foreground, which were catching the last rays of the setting sun. This picture was captured in the fall of 2023.
