The dramatic, filtered light coming through the tree canopy drew me to this scene. This type of light really looks inviting. I want to walk into the woods along this path, leaping from boulder to boulder.
I started this painting with a canvas toned dark charcoal gray. This was an interesting process because I could almost immediately jump right into building up the light.
