OBX Sunrise – Oil on Canvas
While on vacation with my family near Duck, NC, on the Outer Banks, the sunrise crew would head out to the beach every day before 6 am. I tagged along a few times and got some great photos of the sun coming up over the Atlantic Ocean. I took progressive photos as the sun was rising and found this one to be the best combination of the sun peeking through light clouds and light reflecting off of the ocean. I was walking around using this photo as wallpaper on my phone and I really liked the tall, skinny orientation. The cropping put a lot of focus on the sunlight which is what inspired me to choose this canvas size for the painting.
This painting is 10 inches wide and 20 inches tall. It's painted on a gallery-wrapped canvas so it is also 2 inches thick with the painting continuing around the edges. This could be hung on the wall without a frame.
